My CosmosPrivacy policy
1. Who is responsible
The operator of My Cosmos, Switzerland. Contact: my-cosmos@linto.ch
This policy applies to the iPhone app "My Cosmos" and to this website. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, where relevant, the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The German version is the binding one.
2. What the app stores
You enter the data yourself: children and other people (names, birthdays, relationships, notes, photos), milestones, events, groups and reminder settings. We, the developers, never receive this data and cannot see it.
- On your device: in the app's own database, and in a shared container so the Home Screen widgets can show upcoming birthdays and recent milestones.
- In your iCloud: if you are signed in to iCloud, the app syncs through Apple's CloudKit in your private iCloud database. Apple processes this data under its own privacy policy. Without iCloud the data stays on the device.
- Sharing with a partner: if you invite someone, your family data is shared through a CloudKit share. The invited person can see and edit it, and you decide who is invited. You can stop sharing at any time.
3. Permissions
The app asks for each permission only when the feature needs it. You can change them in iOS Settings at any time.
- Photos / Camera: to attach photos you choose, or to scan documents such as class lists. Scanned text is read on your device.
- Microphone and speech recognition: to dictate notes. Where your language allows, recognition runs on the device. Otherwise Apple may process the audio on its servers, as described in Apple's documentation for speech recognition.
- Contacts: read-only, to suggest children, parents and missing birthdays. Nothing in your contacts is changed. Which contact belongs to which person is stored only on your device and never synced or uploaded.
- Notifications: reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No push server is involved.
4. On-device intelligence
Suggestions from quick notes and imports use Apple Intelligence on your device where available, otherwise simple built-in rules. Your text is not sent to us or to any third-party AI service.
5. Network use
The app only goes online to sync through iCloud, and where Apple's speech recognition needs it (see above). It loads nothing else from the internet and sends no information about you to us or to any third party.
6. What we do not do
- No tracking, no advertising identifiers, no analytics or crash-reporting libraries.
- No sale or transfer of data to third parties.
- No account or registration.
Purchases: the optional Premium purchase is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive your name or payment details. The app only asks Apple whether the purchase exists on your Apple Account.
7. Backups and exports
If you export a backup, the file is created on your device and you decide where it is saved or sent. Keep it safe, as it contains the same personal data as the app.
8. Other people's data
You may enter details of children, relatives and friends. Please do so only for private, family use and with respect for the people concerned.
9. Children
The app is meant for parents and guardians. It is not directed at children, and children do not use it with their own accounts.
10. Deleting your data
Deleting people or entries in the app removes them from your device and from iCloud. Deleting the app removes the local data. To remove the iCloud copy, go to iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → My Cosmos → Delete Data.
11. Your rights
Because we hold none of your data, there is nothing for us to disclose or delete. For data stored with Apple, contact Apple. For anything about this app or website, write to the address above.
12. Website
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. Like any web host it processes technical data such as your IP address in server logs when you visit. We use no cookies and no analytics on this site.
13. Changes
If the app changes in a way that affects your data, this page is updated and the date above changes.
